Situated in Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Etienne Sauzet comprises 15 hectares of estate vineyards spread across Puligny-Montrachet, Cormot-le-Grand, and Chassagne-Montrachet, supplemented by small amounts of externally sourced fruit. The vineyards have followed organic farming practices since 2006, transitioning to biodynamic methods in 2010, with certification obtained in 2013. This particular release is sourced from their 0.29-hectare plot in the Premier Cru ‘Champ Gain’. The 2014 vintage offers a mineral nose that has white flower elements. It is a lean Chardonnay with bright acidity, almost Chablis-like in its precision.

Vinous
(Sauzet's parcel abuts La Truffière): Pale yellow. Subtly perfumed aromas of white peach and stone. Rounder and fuller in the mouth than the Garenne but with lovely brisk acidity giving the wine a light touch. The fruit here is distinctly white, while the Garenne is more yellow, even a touch exotic. This fleshy but minerally wine finishes bone-dry and lively, even a touch youthfully austere.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2016
