Situated in Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Etienne Sauzet comprises 15 hectares of estate vineyards spread across Puligny-Montrachet, Cormot-le-Grand, and Chassagne-Montrachet, supplemented by small amounts of externally sourced fruit. The vineyards have followed organic farming practices since 2006, transitioning to biodynamic methods in 2010, with certification obtained in 2013. This particular release is sourced from their 0.29-hectare plot in the Premier Cru ‘Champ Gain’. The 2012 vintage showcases expressive citrus fruit, delivers considerable tension on the palate, and reveals plenty of complexity with mineral and smoky nuances – everything one desires from a Puligny-Montrachet.

Vinous
(just the second vintage at Sauzet for this recently purchased parcel): Pale, bright yellow. Pear, peach, hazelnut and white flowers on the expressive nose. Then tactile and energetic in the mouth, with flavors of fresh hazelnut and dried fruits nicely framed by lemony acidity. Very upright, pure wine with a long, dry finish. Still a bit youthfully compressed and in need of a couple years of patience.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2014
