Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 2016 is a Premier Cru white Burgundy from the lieu-dit of Champ Canet in the village of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. The wines of Etienne Sauzet are among the most sought-after in Puligny. The Premiers and Grands Crus, in particular, tend to be models of concentration with restraint. Etienne Sauzet tends to dial down the use of new oak, preferring a level of around 20% new for its 1er Cru Chardonnays. The domaine vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2010. On the 2016 Champ Canet. "An expressive yet cool nose offers up aromas of citrus peel, floral and white-fleshed orchard fruit that are trimmed in just enough wood and menthol to notice. There is good vibrancy to the delicious and exceptionally rich middle weight flavours that possess outstanding complexity on the beautifully long if still youthfully austere finale. At least some patience will definitely be required." Burghound, 2018

Vinous
Bright yellow. Sexy aromas of lemon zest, peach, hazelnut and smoky lees. At once sweet and pure, offering noteworthy density and freshness to its rather creamy flavors of yellow peach and soft citrus fruits. Seamless, nicely balanced wine with excellent length and fruit retention. There's good weight here but assistant winemaker Riffault says the finished alcohol is no higher than 13%.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2018
