Rising stars Marc and Alexandre Bachelet created Domaine Bachelet-Monnot in 2005 with vineyards from their father and uncle. Today the two brothers farm a mix of family-owned and long-term leased vineyards, covering 20 different appellations. This is their 2020 Puligny-Montrachet, a dense and broad expression, with a balance and elegance that is typical of the domaine.
Vinous
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a well-defined nose of light honeysuckle and lime flower aromas, quite strict and mineral-driven. The palate is more expressive at the moment, with ample tension. Just the right amount of bitter lemon lends edginess on the finish. This has a bit of swagger, though it needs 3–4 years for the bouquet to really open. Very fine. Neal Martin1st December 2021

Rising Stars
Founded by rising stars Marc and Alexandre Bachelet in 2005, Domaine Bachelet Monnot manage 10 hectares of vines in the communes in Maranges, Santenay and Puligny-Montrachet. The focus is on traditional techniques, terroir-led winemaking - 50% new oak is used for Grand Cru wines, but employed to a lesser extent for Premier Cru and Village-level wines.
Key vineyards for Bachelet Monnot in Maranges are La Fussière, which they produce in both red and white, and Clos de la Boutière. In Puligny-Montrachet, Marc and Alexandre produce Premier Crus Les Referts and Folatières along with Grand Crus Bienvenues-Bâtard Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet.
