Château Prieuré-Lichine, a distinguished Fourth Growth producer situated in the Margaux appellation, can trace its roots back to the 12th century when it was initially established as a monastery. The estate experienced a significant transformation in the 1950s when it was acquired by the renowned wine writer Alexis Lichine. Under his ownership, the quality and reputation of Château Prieuré-Lichine saw a steep rise, leading to its present-day acclaim. Here, we have a rare bottle from the 1976 vintage, a year that saw several wine regions, including Bordeaux, Sauternes, Burgundy, Beaujolais, and the Rhône Valley, all deliver reasonably good wines.
