Château Poujeaux is set upon the magnificent gravel slopes of Grand-Poujeaux, a single unbroken parcel of land to the North-East of Moulis. Described by the critic Neal Martin as follows, "The 2006 Château Poujeaux has an attractive bouquet with plenty of lovely blackcurrant and raspberry fruit interlaced with cedar and tobacco notes. The palate is medium-bodied with good grip in the mouth, impressive substance and a tightly-coiled, saline finish that suggests this might surpass expectation. It certainly did mine. One to look out for."

Vinous
(57% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 7% petit verdot) Medium ruby. Black cherry and a floral perfume on the ripe nose. Round and rich, but with a firm edge of acidity giving the wine shape. Offers a restrained sweetness. Solidly structured but not hard. Finishes with palate-dusting tannins. Another very good performance by this consistent property.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2007
