Poujeaux 2005 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based, Cru Bourgeois red wine from the Moulis-en-Médoc region of Bordeaux. Set upon the magnificent gravel slopes of Grand-Poujeaux, Château Poujeaux is one of the leading estates in the Moulis appellation of the Médoc, an area well-known for producing elegant wines from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. "This well-known estate is now owned by Clos Fourtet’s Philippe Cuvelier, but the estate was owned by Jean Theil when the 2005 was conceived. This 2005 reveals a beautiful black cherry and cassis-scented nose, with a touch of spring flowers, medium to full body, and supple tannin in a sexy, lush, heady style. A sleeper of the vintage, it is already approachable and satisfying, and can be drunk over the next 10-15 years." Wine Advocate, 2015

Saturated medium ruby. Blackberry and bitter chocolate on the nose. Juicy, spicy and tight; still youthfully austere in the middle. Rather linear today, but nicely balanced and not hard. The dense black fruit and violet flavors saturate the palate on the persistent, juicy, firmly tannic finish.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2006
