Potensac 2005 is a full-bodied Cru Bourgeois red wine from the Médoc region of Bordeaux. Château Potensac is the prestigious Médoc estate of the Delon family, which also operates Clos du Marquis in Saint-Julien and Château Nenin in Pomerol. The château was one of the nine producers awarded the Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status in the 2003 reclassification, the highest possible Cru Bourgeois designation. "The 2005 Potensac is absolutely gorgeous. The aromatics alone are beguiling. Delicate, elegant and super-expressive, this Potensac is absolutely gorgeous in 2005. Time in the decanter brings out the fruit nicely, yet the 2005 remains light on its feet and a wine of real finesse. It is also still young and full of life. What a treat it is to taste it from a perfectly stored bottle." Vinous, 2021

A superb value for Jean-Hubert Delon, the 2005 Potensac has a deep ruby/purple color, a classic bouquet of sweet red and black fruits, as well as gorgeous texture and purity. Medium-bodied and concentrated, this wine behaves like a Medoc cru classe. Moreover, it will age very well for 10-15 years. Very impressive!Robert Parker31st August 2008

The 2005 Potensac has a light but agreeable bouquet that feels fresher than Nenin '05 (also from the Delon family). The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's a little rustic in style and feels a bit leathery, needing more freshness to come through on the finish. I suspect this would have benefitted from decanting, but this bottle doesn't really bode well for the future. Tasted at the château. Neal Martin17th June 2025
