With headquarters in Meursault, Domaine Leroy was formed in 1988 when Lalou Bize-Leroy acquired the estate of Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée and subsequently Philippe-Rémy’s property in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, Domaine Leroy owns approximately 23 hectares, including impressive holdings in nine Grands Crus and eight Premier Crus, all farmed biodynamically. This particular release comes from ‘Les Vignots’, a cool lieu-dit where Leroy cultivates a 1.25-hectare parcel. The 2010 vintage for Burgundy was quite successful, with Volnay and Pommard producing particularly good wines.

The 2010 Pommard Vignots wraps around the palate with serious depth and structure. This is an especially dark, brooding Vignots that needs time in the glass to start opening up. Hints of tar, smoke and incense wrap around the deep, resonant finish. From barrel, the wine`s structural components were more dominant, but now that the wine is in bottle, the sheer depth of the fruit is much more evident. The Vignots is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel, and that is saying a lot. - Antonio Galloni

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
