Based in the village of Pommard, Launay-Horiot is a family-run wine producer that has been in operation since the 18th century. The domaine covers approximately four hectares of vineyards and is currently overseen by pilot-turned-winemaker Xavier Horiot. This expression comes from the 2.2-hectare Les Perrières, a premier cru vineyard that was planted in 1902. The Pinot Noir grapes from these ancient vines produce an outstanding Pommard, with a unique depth and length.

The 2017 Pommard Les Perrières offers lovely red cherry, cranberry and pomegranate scents on the nose, all well defined and quite intense for a village cru. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit. A little earthiness surfaces towards the finish, which feels long and poised. This is a fine Pommard from Xavier Horiot. Neal Martin1st January 2019
