Based in the commune of Pommard, Domaine de Courcel is an 11-hectare property still owned and run by the founding family. The estate includes holdings in four Premier Cru sites, Les Rugiens, Les Croix Noires, Le Grand Clos des Épenots and Les Frémiers, where this release comes from. 1996 was an outstanding vintage for both white and red Burgundy which are drinking beautifully now.

Vinous
Good deep cherry-red. Expressive aromas of wild cherry, strawberry, flowers and mint. Supple, ripe and minerally, relying more on harmonious acidity than tannins for its structure. Still, a rather forward style, and already showing plenty of personality.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1999
