Epenots is a renowned designation in Pommard, signifying wines originating from a historic lieu-dit situated at the foot of the Cote d`Or. This designation encompasses three distinct climats. Les Grands Epenots, Les Petits Epenots, and Clos des Epeneaux, all exclusively cultivated with Pinot Noir grapes. The resulting wines from this terroir exhibit a wealth of depth and structure, complemented by notes of spice and earthiness, all while maintaining a remarkable level of refinement. They are widely regarded as some of the most exceptional red wines within the Cote de Beaune. This particular 1982 ‘Epenots’ produced by Michel Piroux has evolved into a wine of remarkable character, displaying the enduring quality of well-stored older Burgundies.
