Maison Leroy Pommard 1er Cru 1998 is a mature Burgundy red wine from Premier Cru vineyards within the Pommard appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Maison Leroy is the négociant arm of the celebrated Burgundy producer Domaine Leroy, which produces some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the Côte d`Or. This mature Pommard represents the best of the variable 1998 vintage, retaining notes of brooding dark red and black fruits, along with hints of sous bois and sweet spice.

Hand Picked Burgundies

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988). Maison Leroy was founded by François Leroy as a négociant house in 1868 in the village of Auxey-Duresses and is today headed up by the renowned Lalou Bize-Leroy.

Unlike Domaine Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay, Maison Leroy represents a portfolio of wines selected by Lalou, but not made by Lalou. Vignerons from across Burgundy will submit their wines for evaluation and, following a blind tasting, Lalou will select just a few to be bottled under the Maison label.
