Pol Roger Vinotheque Vintage 2002 is a vintage prestige cuvée Champagne produced by the house of Pol Roger. The relationship between Pol Roger and Sir Winston Churchill was struck up following the liberation of Paris in 1944, an occasion commemorated with the serving of Pol Roger 1924 and at which Churchill first met Odette Pol Roger. The pair became lifelong friends and Churchill a lifelong admirer of Pol Roger Champagnes, going so far as to declare 44 Avenue de Champagne (the home of Champagne Pol Roger) “the most drinkable address in the world”.

Pol Roger's 2002 Brut Vintage is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of confit lemon and pear mingled with nuances of brioche, wheat toast, honeycomb and dried white flowers. Full-bodied, broad and textural, this is a rich, vinous Champagne that's ample and complex, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with a long, saline finish.William Kelley16th July 2020
