Dominio de Pingus was founded in 1995 by Danish winemaker, Peter Sisseck. With incredibly small production of extremely old-vine Tempranillo, he is one of the most acclaimed producers in the Ribera del Duero region and has a global reputation for thoroughly modern, highly characterful and long-lived wines. 1997 was a cooler vintage and this is a slightly lighter, more elegant iteration of his flagship wine.

Vinous
Full dark ruby-red. Less obviously ripe nose features black cherry and beefsteak tomato. Possesses less weight and flesh on the palate, and thus gives an impression of higher acidity than the '98. Juicy, smoky and vinous. Finishes with sneaky length; the tannins dust the front of the tongue. Sisseck did a light extraction in '97 to avoid green tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st November 1999
