The Pierre Péters Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons 2015 is an esteemed Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne, exclusively sourced from the famous Les Chétillons lieu-dit in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The Pierre Péters family, headquartered in this Grand Cru village, owns three small parcels of old Chardonnay vines within Les Chétillons, which are vinified separately for this single-vineyard cuvée. The 2015, a warm vintage, presents a powerful, fleshy style with aromas of candied lemon peel, orchard fruit, clear honey and brioche, balanced by a chalky extract and racy acidity that ensures excellent potential for long-term ageing. Available here in jeroboam format.

Disgorged with five grams per liter dosage, the 2015 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons has turned out well, unwinding in the glass with aromas of freshly baked bread, crisp orchard fruit, clear honey, warm biscuits and dried white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and muscular, it`s a deep, compact wine structured around racy acids and chalky extract. It`s a strong effort, but it will demand a bit of patience to reveal all its potential. Péters was careful not to pick too soon, classifying 2015 along with 2011 and 2007 as years defined by an early harvest where it was nonetheless critical to avoid picking too early. - William Kelley

A Highly Respected Grower

Rodolphe Péters, head of Champagne Pierre Péters, is a fascinating and highly regarded grower who has around seventeen hectares of vineyards in Champagne, mostly in the Grand Crus of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Rodolphe makes bold, expressive wines that utilise a full malolactic, high temperature fermentation to balance the clean, zippy acidity naturally found in the Champagne grapes he farms.

Rodolphe's vintage bottlings now have a cult status among Champagne lovers while his non-vintage 'Cuvée de Réserve' and 'Extra Brut' are as accessible as they are delicious, made with around 30% reserve wines from a decades old solera system.
