Pierre Péters Les Chetillons 2012 is a prestge-cuvée blanc de blancs Champagne produced by Pierre Péters in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, France. Established in 1858, Pierre Péters is a grower champagne producer whose vineyards are located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the very heart of the Côte des Blancs. Les Chétillons Cuvée Spéciale is a blanc de blancs made with 100% Chardonnay grapes. "The 2012 Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons is fabulous. Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2012 has all of the intensity of a ripe year, but without the more tropical leanings of vintages like 2002. What comes through most is the raw intensity of a year in which yields were reduced sharply by frost. The 2012 Chetillons is going to need at least a few years to come into its own, but it is brilliant even in the early going. Hints of lemon confit, white flowers mint and chalk develop with air, but it is the interplay of 2012 richness and Le Mesnil tension that makes for an utterly compelling, vivid Champagne of the highest level. This is a hugely promising wine. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged. November, 2018." Antonio Galloni, 2018

The 2012 Brut Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons is just as impressive as it was earlier this year, although it appears to have shut down a touch since then. That is not a problem, though, as readers should not be thinking of opening a bottle anytime soon. Bright, creamy and explosive, the 2012 packs a serious punch. It is also painfully austere and in need of cellaring. Readers who can find the 2012 should not hesitate, as it is truly special. Dosage is 4.7 grams per liter. Disgorged: January, 2019.Antonio Galloni1st December 2019

A Highly Respected Grower

Rodolphe Péters, head of Champagne Pierre Péters, is a fascinating and highly regarded grower who has around seventeen hectares of vineyards in Champagne, mostly in the Grand Crus of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Rodolphe makes bold, expressive wines that utilise a full malolactic, high temperature fermentation to balance the clean, zippy acidity naturally found in the Champagne grapes he farms.

Rodolphe's vintage bottlings now have a cult status among Champagne lovers while his non-vintage 'Cuvée de Réserve' and 'Extra Brut' are as accessible as they are delicious, made with around 30% reserve wines from a decades old solera system.
