Established in 1858, Pierre Péters is a grower champagne producer whose vineyards are located in Le Mesnil sur Oger, in the very heart of the Côte des Blancs. Les Chétillons Cuvée Spéciale is a blanc de blancs made with 100% Chardonnay grapes. The 2002 vintage is an absolutely gorgeous champagne. From the inviting, elegant nose of bread, citrus and spring fruits to the more mature palate of summer fruits, nuts, brioche and slightly flinty mineral. A class act.

- The 2002 Brut Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons Oenothèque is drop-dead gorgeous. Lush and exotic, the 2002 Oenothèque offers up a compelling mélange of apricot jam, honey and wild yellow flowers, all with tropical inflections that give the wine its bold, exotic personality. The Oenothèque is dense, powerful and concentrated. In this tasting, it actually comes across as a bit more forward than the Oenothèque, probably because of the aging on the cork. Often, late-disgorged Champagnes that have been aged on cork retreat into a more reductive phase a few years after disgorgement. It will be interesting to see if that happens here. Disgorged December 2015.

Elegant Blanc and Rosé

The Laurent-Perrier portfolio is built around three distinct expressions of its unique savoir-faire. The first is the art of assemblage of reserve wines, exemplified by Grand Siècle - a prestige cuvée crafted from three exceptional years to recreate the perfect year. The second is the mastery of maceration, an innovative winemaking technique that led to the creation of Cuvée Rosé in 1968. Finally, the House pioneered the non-dosage (zero dosage) style with the launch of Ultra Brut in 1981, a visionary approach that continues today with Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature.
