Château Pibran 2005 is a full-bodied, Cru Bourgeois red wine from the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux. Rich and mouth-coating with velvety tannins and a sustained finish, this 2005 is considered by most critics to the best Pibran in recent years. The wine is vinified in the cellar of Château Pichon-Baron. "A sleeper of the vintage in many a year, the 2005 Pibran is once again a very successful wine. Dense opaque purple, with loads of crème de cassis fruit, liquorice and incense, the wine is medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, and should hit full maturity in about 3-4 years and last at least 15-20." Vinous
(a 65/35 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Good medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of cassis, black raspberry, licorice and flowers. Offers good sweetness and density in the mouth, with lovely purity of flavor and definition for this Pauillac. Finishes with chewy tannins and atypical power. A good showing.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2006
