Situated within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Phélan Ségur is known for producing muscular, full-bodied wines that are age-worthy. After more than thirty years in charge of the property, the Gardinier family sold the Château to Belgian businessman Philippe Van de Vyvere in 2017. This is the 2006 vintage of its flagship wine, a blend of 50% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Expect notes of dark berries, cedar, earthy minerality and tobacco.

Vinous
Good ruby-red. Cool, medicinal aromas of cassis, black cherry, licorice, graphite and herbs. Leanish and tight; primary but a bit youthfully hard despite possessing good intensity. Hints of spice, leather and fresh herbs. Finishes firmly tannic, fresh and dry.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2007
