Located on a high section of the famous Pomerol plateau, Château Petit-Village is a distinguished wine estate which was acquired by the Moulin family in June 2020. Its vineyard stretches over 10.5 hectares in a single plot, shaped like an equilateral triangle. The soil consists of red gravel made up of quartz and flint, on a clay subsoil. This release is the 1999 vintage of its flagship wine, a successful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of redcurrant, cocoa powder, lead pencil and cedar. Juicy red berry flavors are fairly intense but seem a bit clenched today despite its lowish acidity. Showing less middle-palate richness today than the '00, but finishes with rather fine tannins and good length.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2001

This dark ruby-colored, evolved, lush, sexy Pomerol offers aromas of licorice, dried herbs, asphalt, and sweet currant/cherry fruit. While it does not have a great deal of weight or persistence on the palate, it is up-front, mainstream, appealing, and accessible. Enjoy it over the next decade.Robert Parker30th April 2002
