Peter Michael in 1982 with a singular vision. "to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil". Consistency and quality are the watchwords here.

The wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can’t help expressing an edge of Californian richness.

Ma Danseuse, French for “My Dancer,” is named in honour of Lady Michael by Sir Peter, who fondly remembers how they first met.

Peter Michael Ma Danseuse Pinot Noir 2014 showcases grapes grown in the cooler, northernmost parts of the Fort Ross-Seaview vineyard, a site renowned for its maritime climate. This Pinot Noir presents a complex array of aromas including conentreated red fruit, Asian spices, clove, and dried herbs. The wine`s silky body reveals a rich texture and long finish.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse presents a much riper and more overt expression of this site. Dark cherry, blackberry, exotic spice, rose petal and mint are all front and center. Rich, dramatic and enveloping, Ma Danseuse offers notable depth and textural richness. The new oak is a bit prominent at this stage, so I would advise cellaring the 2014 for another 6-12 months at a minimum. Antonio Galloni1st August 2016

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
