Peter Michael Winery is undoubtedly one of the finest producers of exceptional quality Chardonnay in California. Ma Belle-Fille is a single vineyard planted in 1999 at 1,700 – 1,900 feet elevation in the Knights Valley AVA of Sonoma County. It is the highest vineyard of the estate and produces wines with a distinctive marine influence. The 2018 releases from Peter Michael are of exceptional quality and should age brilliantly.

The 2018 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille is dense, powerful and tightly wound. I would give it a few years to come together. Ripe apricot, orange confit, baked apple tart and wild flowers infuse the 2018 with notable complexity to match its dense, packed personality. Antonio Galloni1st January 2020

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
