Peter Michael Winery is a renowned Californian producer located in the Knights Valley AVA in Sonoma County. It was established in 1982 by Sir Peter Michael and is known for producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines. The 2011 Peter Michael ‘Les Pavots’ is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine displays a deep ruby colour and offers complex aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and blueberry, along with hints of tobacco, cedar and graphite. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, showcasing ripe dark fruit flavours, fine-grained tannins, and well-integrated oak. Its bright acidity provides a refreshing balance to the rich flavours, leading to a long, persistent finish.
(73% cabernet sauvignon, 14% cabernet franc, 10% merlot and 3% petit verdot): Opaque ruby. Smoky, deeply pitched aromas of cassis, blueberry and dark chocolate, with a hint of truffle adding a musky, earthy nuance. In a substantial style for the vintage, offering sweet dark fruit preserve flavors and a touch of candied licorice. Tangy acidity adds lift to the round, gently tannic, persistent finish, with the blue fruit note echoing.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2014

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or
Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
