Peter Michael Les Pavots 2005 is a Bordeaux-style blend from the acclaimed, Knights Valley, Sonoma County. Les Pavots is French for the poppies and the name came from the wild Californian poppies that grow on Knights Valley ranch.
The 2005 Les Pavots is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot, from the slopes of Mt. St. Helena. Rocky, rhyolitic soils created through volcanic activity millennia ago contribute a mineral richness and add to the wine’s complexity. This vintage exhibits deep ruby-purple hues, unveiling notes of red cherry, blueberry and blackcurrant are followed by, chocolate, and cigar box , vanilla and clove.

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or
Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
