Peter Michael L`Esprit des Pavots 2013 is the second wine from Peter Michael Winery, located in the Knights Valley AVA of Sonoma County, California. This Bordeaux-style blend primarily features Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, sourced from the estate`s Les Pavots Vineyard and, since 2016, Au Paradis Vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley. Crafted with a focus on approachability, it undergoes traditional fermentation methods and is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels. This vintage typically presents notes of dark fruit, herbs and subtle earthy undertones, reflecting the winery`s commitment to detail and its unique terroir.

The 2013 L`Esprit des Pavots, a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot. Soft, round and juicy, with licorice, roasted herbs, underbrush, blackberry and cassis, this is a yummy, sexy and seductive style of wine to drink over the next 10-15 years.

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
