Pavillon Rouge Margaux 2015 is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. It displays a medium to deep garnet hue. The nose offers aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and subtle tobacco, accompanied by earthy undertones. On the palate, it showcases a structured profile with concentrated fruit flavours and a touch of spice. The finish is persistent, reflecting the wine`s complexity. Château Margaux, renowned for its meticulous farming practices, has produced this second wine since 1906.

Revved up and ready to go, tender melted tannins at the 10 year point, and yet full of life, expertly managed in its delivery of juice and spice, brambled autumnal fruits, really one to look out for. The frame is still fully in place - elegant chalk, crushed rocks, woodsmoke and roses, so delicious. A buy. Paul Pontallier's final vintage as technical director.Jane Anson19th February 2025

Blended of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and an expressive, alluringly spicy nose of cloves, cinnamon stick and fenugreek with a core of red and black currants, black cherries and wild blueberries plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied with very fine, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes long and satisfying. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2015 Pavillon Rouge has a slightly gamey bouquet, though there is fine delineation and the oak is well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated fleshy tannins but it has structure, grip and a sense of composure on the sapid finish. This is a well-crafted Margaux. A Legacy of Fine Wine

Château Margaux is one of the most striking constructions in the Bordeaux appellation, a large grand house built in the early 18th century on an estate that has been producing fine wine for hundreds of years, with a history dating back to the 12th century Bordeaux wine tradition. Quality was known to fluctuate in the first half of the 20th century, but that period of inconsistency ended with the arrival of wunderkind Paul Pontallier, a talented winemaker who worked nearly 35 vintages and produced some of the greatest wines in living memory. Paul passed on in 2016, and the team is now led by Philippe Bascaules and Sebastien Vergne, with consultancy from Eric Boissenot.

82 hectares are dedicated to red wine vines, with around 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Château Margaux produces around 30,000 cases of wine annually, with the Grand Vin accounting for around 35% of that total. Among their celebrated wines is Pavillon Rouge, the second wine of the estate, which stands as a testament to the estate's commitment to quality.

In addition to their renowned red wines, Château Margaux also produces a limited quantity of Sauvignon Blanc, adding another layer to their esteemed collection of Margaux wines. This white wine complements their offerings and demonstrates the estate’s versatility.
