Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Château Pavie, alongside Château Figeac, stands as one of the exclusive estates in Saint-Émilion designated Premier Grand Cru Classé A. The 1989 vintage has gracefully matured into a fully developed wine. Exhibiting a garnet hue, it is medium to full-bodied, displaying a balanced and smooth character. The black-fruited core is complemented by nuances of mushroom, tobacco, dusty rose, and subtle hints of milk chocolate. Soft, fine tannins contribute to an elegant texture that lingers on the moderate finish.

- The 1989 Pavie came from a bottle in my own collection. This predates Gérard Perse's acquisition by almost a decade. It does not quite match the 1990 Pavie, but it continues to drink well. The bouquet has lost some of its vigor in recent years, vestiges of pressed rose petals mingling with mushroom scents and a touch of tobacco. It betrays a wine that perhaps did not attain physiological ripeness. The palate is balanced, relatively simple but still fresh, and the old-school, almost Graves-like finish is abrupt. Large formats might be interesting, but bottles should be drunk soon. Tasted at home over dinner.

A Decadent St-Emilion

Situated to the south-east of the town of St-Emilion, Pavis is the largest 1er Grand Cru Classé property in the commune with over 35 hectares of vines. The vineyards themselves are ideally situated on the south facing slopes of a limestone plateau for excellent exposure, ensuring optimal ripeness in the right conditions. Since the late 1990s, the Grand Vin has been a blend of 55% Merlot, 25% Cabernet France and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented in wooden vats and aged in 100% new oak for 18 months. The wines are bottled unfiltered for added concentration and texture.

Pavie was purchased in 1998 by Gérard Perse who has, assisted by consultant oenologist Michel Rolland, pushed the wines towards a bolder, more concentrated style with a focus on concentrated fruit on the palate and an expressive nose.
