The Historical XIX Century was first released in 2004 as an homage to the wines of Bordeaux that once included Syrah. It is a rare and unique wine that consists of 90% fruit from Margaux (half-and-half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) with 10% Syrah from the Northern Rhône. It is full-bodied and rich, with the deep mineral-laced black fruits of Margaux combined with the spicy fragrance of the Rhône.

Classic, Concentrated Margaux

Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.

In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
