Palmer Alter Ego 2012 is a full-bodied, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. Alter Ego is the second wine of the estate and in the 2012 vintage is a blend of 51% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot. "This is amazing for the second wine with incredible white truffle, stone and currant character. Purity of fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, silky and refined. Fantastic length. Better in 2018 but almost impossible to resist now. Incredible." James Suckling, 2015

The 2012 Alter Ego de Palmer has a wonderful bouquet with a real spring in its step: blackberry, raspberry, rose petals and bergamot, clean and precise. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, well judged acidity, very smooth and cohesive with impressive depth combined with finesse on the finish. Sophisticated and refined, this comes highly recommended. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Neal Martin27th September 2022

Classic, Concentrated Margaux

Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.

In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
