Palmer 2010 is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend from the Margaux appellation. Comprising of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, his vintage exhibits structure and depth with notes of black currant, plum and subtle spice. The wine is crafted at Château Palmer, known for its biodynamic practices under the guidance of winemaker Thomas Duroux. This 300cl format is perfect for collectors seeking to explore the long-term ageing potential of this celebrated Left Bank estate`s grand vin.

Inky purple in colour. This begs to be taken slowly, as even visually you can see that the texture is rich and velvety and will benefit from a few more years softening in bottle. Dark chocolate and orange zest on the nose, this performs the levitating trick of heading upwards through your palate with mouthwatering acidities while pulling you downwards towards the tannins that are underpinning the whole experience. In between the two you find cassis, bilberry, raspberry and strawberry puree, just a whole array of pure, chiselled but juicy fruits. This is living up to promise, but needs more time, still a trace of austerity on the finish right now, even though the complexity and the layers are hard to resist. Sculpted, intense and concentrated. Harvest September 22 to October 20 - a full leisurely month, mirrored by the unhurried pace that this takes through your palate. 60% new oak.Jane Anson12th December 2021

The 2010 Palmer is a broody, tertiary bouquet with pencil lead infused black fruit that gains intensity with aeration. This is very classic in style, quintessentially 2010. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a strong marine influence here with touches of seaweed infusing the black fruit. Very well balanced, not quite as precise as its peers in this flight, but it feels very long on the finish. Excellent, but it clearly needs time. Chateau Palmer

Classic, Concentrated Margaux

Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.

In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
