Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. A blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a small portion of Petit Verdot, the 2016 is once again an incredibly release. Voluminous and vibrant, it is packed with remarkably concentrated fruit and deep seams of savoury complexity.

Love the rosebud and peony character, very much majoring on a floral-strewed openier, liquorice bud, cassis, bilberry, cigar box, dried cranberry and elderflower, graphite and gunsmoke, concentrated and powerful, full of appellation and estate signature. 60% new oak.Jane Anson4th February 2026

The 2016 Palmer has an exquisite bouquet with gushing violet petals infusing the black fruit, very well defined, certainly one of the most opulent Left Bank wines. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins, sweet but never cloying, the acidity maintaining tension, with plenty of spice surging through on the finish. Superb. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year-On tasting in London. Neal Martin16th April 2026

Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Lift and interest on the nose. Smooth palate and lots of creamy appeal. Masses tucked in here. (JR)Jancis Robinson12th February 2026

Classic, Concentrated Margaux

Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.

In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
