Jayson Pahlmeyer planted his vineyard in 1981 using “suitcase clones” allegedly smuggled from France. His founding philosophy was to create a “California Mouton” and he has undoubtedly secured his winery’s reputation as one of the finest producers of Bordeaux varieties in Napa.
2013 an extrodinary vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon resulted in wines of great complexity and age-ability.
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot, the wine brings notes of raspberry, blackcurrant and lavender, red cherry and plum, balanced by slate and dark cacao. Ripe tannins and an extraordinary length.

- A real knock-out, the 2013 Proprietary Red is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. A wine of tension, energy and opulence, the 2013 has all the signatures of the vintage in spades. Red cherry jam, smoke, licorice, spices and white pepper are some of the notes that meld into the super-expressive, delineated finish. The 2013 is the first vintage of the Proprietary Red that is more than 50% estate, while the rest of fruit was sourced from Stagecoach and Rancho Chimiles.
