Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Quarterly Billing: Clients are invoiced quarterly based on the wines stored in the preceding quarter.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How Our Storage Service Works

Purchase en primeur, under-bond or duty-paid wines from Hedonism Wines.
Enjoy twelve months of complimentary storage when you open a storage account with us.
After twelve months, storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with charges invoiced quarterly.
When you’re ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery – most orders are fulfilled within 3–4 working days. For wines held under bond, the relevant duty and VAT will be payable before delivery.

Old Pulteney has produced single malt whisky in the harbour town of Wick, on Scotland’s northern coast, since 1826. Its remote location historically meant that barley arrived and finished whisky departed by sea, establishing a close relationship between the distillery and Wick’s maritime trade. The distillery is also known for its unusually shaped stills, including a distinctive flat-topped wash still, which contribute to Old Pulteney’s characteristic weight and texture. Released to mark Pulteney Distillery’s 200th anniversary in 2026, this 30 Year Old is limited to 1,000 bottles worldwide. Distillery Manager Malcolm Waring personally filled the casks in which the whisky spent its three decades of maturation. It was matured in American oak before being refined in European oak and is bottled at 50.4% ABV. The nose combines sugared almonds and sweet oak with orchard fruit and citrus. Pear and citrus lead on the palate, developing into salted caramel and baked apple, followed by cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish brings together lingering sweetness, oak and the saline character associated with Old Pulteney. The whisky is presented in a crystal decanter with rose-gold detailing and an etched wave design at its base. The neck echoes the shape of Pulteney’s flat-topped still, while the outer case takes its design cues from weathered driftwood.

One of Scotland's Most Northerly Distilleries

Old Pulteney has been producing Highland single malt in Wick, in the far north of Scotland, since 1826. The whisky and the distillery are both named in homage to Scottish landowner and politician Sir William Pulteney, after whom the town of Pulteney was named.

Until the establishment of Wolfburn Distillery near Thurso, Old Pulteney was the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. Its hard-to-access location in the early days of its operation dictated that barley had to be delivered by sea and the whisky left the distillery the same way.

High levels of reflux in the distillery’s odd-shaped stills is a contributing factor to Old Pulteney’s distinctive character, which is somewhat oily yet also ozone-fresh, with a salty tang associated with the distillery’s close proximity to the North Sea.

The core Old Pulteney single malt is a 12-year-old expression. In addition, the distillery produces 17-year-old and 21-year-old expressions which are of particular appeal to ‘maritime malt’ enthusiasts. In addition, In recent years a number of independent bottlings have emerged, notably Gordon & Macphail’s Private Collection 38-year-old, distilled in 1982, and the 1998 Connoisseurs Choice Pulteney.
