The Occidental SWK Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 is a single-vineyard wine sourced from the extreme Sonoma Coast AVA. Steve Kistler, renowned for his commitment to precision viticulture, oversees this estate. The SWK Vineyard, characterised by high elevation and marine sedimentary soils, benefits from a cool climate that influences the grape’s development. Utilising a minimalist, Burgundian-inspired winemaking approach, this wine is fully destemmed, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in French oak barrels. The resulting profile includes notes of red fruit, subtle floral hints and a notable mineral quality, indicative of its unique terroir.

- The 2013 Pinot Noir SWK Vineyard is the most tannic and structured of these Pinots from Occidental. As such, it is going to need at least a few years in bottle to unwind. Beams of chalky tannin underpin a deeply expressive Pinot endowed with intensely mineral and savory overtones. Vivid and beautifully sculpted throughout, the 2013 is impressive, even in the early going.
