Nyetimber 1086 Rosé 2016 is an exceptional English sparkling wine, crafted from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. This release marks a continuation of the estate’s commitment to high-quality production, tracing its roots back to 1086, the year the estate was first recorded. The vineyard, located in West Sussex, benefits from a unique microclimate ideal for grape cultivation, contributing to the wine`s complexity. Nyetimber has been at the forefront of British sparkling wine since its establishment, championing the traditional method and showcasing the potential of southern England`s terroir.

72% Chardonnay, 28% Pinot Noir, grown on greensand and chalk. More than 60 months on the lees. TA 8 g/l, pH 3.2, RS 9 g/l. Riddled April 2023 and disgorged December 2024.

Pale, gleaming salmon pink. Full of lively fruit, both cherry and ripe apricot. A gentle leesy impression that is more evident on the palate. Rich and mouth-filling, so much presence. High acid is fully balanced by the dosage. This feels so young and alive despite all that time on the lees, and gives the impression it is going to age well in the bottle. Has both intensity and elegance with a fine mousse to carry it to a long finish. (JH)

World Class Sparkling Wine

Having planted its first vines in West Sussex in 1988, Nyetimber was one of the forerunners of the fine English sparkling wine boom, producing traditional method sparkling wines from estate-grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.

Based in the village of West Chiltington in a lea of the South Downs, Nyetimber owns vineyards in West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent, where the geology and soils – principally the same chalk seam which runs under Champagne, along with greensand – are particularly suited to producing world-class sparkling wines.

Head winemaker Cherie Spriggs and her winemaker husband Brad Greatrix work with meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards to ensure optimum fruit quality, while in the cellar, extended ageing and the benefit of an extensive collection of reserve wines ensures that each bottle leaving the winery displays a complexity and finesse which makes Nyetimber a benchmark producer of English sparkling wine.
