Domaine Leroy produces an impressive range of Pinot Noir wines from some of the most iconic vineyards in the world. A wonderfully rare red burgundy, the 2015 `Aux Vignerondes` was reviewed by Robert Parker`s Wine Advocate as follows, "The 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vignerondes from Domaine Leroy is a wonderful wine, offering up an expressive bouquet of cassis, game bird, spice and rich soil. On the palate, the wine is more structurally giving than the Boudots from further north along the slope, with silky tannins, a deep core of concentrated fruit and an incredibly long, saline finish. This was cropped at a mere 13.95 hectoliters per hectare, but—as with all the Domaine Leroy wines—that translates into intensity but never heaviness."

The 2015 Aux Vignerondes is gracious and light on its feet, especially within the context of Nuits. There is quite a bit of power, too, but it is expressed in more of a linear style. Mineral, earth, smoke and cured meat overtones add myriad shades of nuance. Aromatically precise and beautifully delineated, the Vignerondes is another captivating wine in this remarkable range of 1er Crus from Lalou Bize-Leroy. Antonio Galloni1st March 2018

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
