Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Bousselots 2015 from Robert Chevillon is a Premier Cru red wine from the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation of Burgundy. This site is located on the northern side of the commune, bordering Vosne-Romanée, where the soils are deeper and richer in clay. The warm 2015 vintage has provided a wealth of ripe dark fruit, which is balanced by the estate`s signature structural power. It is a concentrated and powerful Pinot Noir, offering layers of black plum and spice with the capacity for significant bottle age. For the nerdy consumer, Les Bousselots provides a fascinating study in the transition between the muscularity of Nuits and the elegance of Vosne, delivered with the uncompromising precision for which the Chevillon family is celebrated.

The 2015 Nuits Saint George`s 1er Cru les Bousselots has a very different nose compared to the Chaignots, one that is more reserved, nicely defined, perhaps more feminine in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, chalky tannin, plenty of brambly red fruit, touches of clove and even dried blood towards the composed finish that will need 3-4 years to subsume the oak.

Mid cherry. Much fresher and more fragrant than the previous two wines. Much more lively on the palate too, with firm, chewy depths. Rounded and firm. (JH)
Vinous
Bright, dark red. Less porty on the nose than the Chaignots but still showing a note of black cherry syrup. Sweet black cherry and black raspberry flavors are complicated by a hint of licorice, with a slightly roasted quality emerging with air. Quite ripe and dense but more about fruit than minerality. Has good mid-palate stuffing to support its tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2017
