Based in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Jean Grivot is one of the leading wine producers in Burgundy. The estate is currently run by the husband-and-wife team Étienne Grivot and Marielle, who took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The domaine has been assembled over several generations to its current size of 15.5 hectares and includes holdings in three Grand Cru sites. Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, and Richebourg. This release is their ‘Aux Boudots’ Premier Cru from 2002, a standout vintage of pure, rich and stylish red Burgundy. Drinking well now.

Deep red. Red fruits and minerals on the nose, along with a floral topnote. Juicy, fresh and nicely delineated, with subtle notes of red fruits, minerals and flowers. This shows the inner-palate energy of the vintage at its best. Finishes quite long, with suave tannins and lovely lift. Give this bottle at least four or five years in the cellar.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005

The 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Boudots displays delightful aromatics of black cherries and violets. This liquid satin of a wine is lush, graceful, and nuanced. Creamy red cherries dominate its elegant, exceptionally ripe core of fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2014.
