(the first vintage here for these old vines, which came to Boissey from Thomas-Moillard by way of Dufouleur and Rodet; vinified with 20% whole clusters): Slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, spices and stone. Sweet, pliant and thick but with good inner-mouth lift from calcaire. Lovely fruit intensity here in a slightly cooler style. Finishes with sweet tannins and good juicy length. Makes the Corvees Pagets seem a bit rustic by comparison.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2014

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
