Bodega Noemia 2019 is a full-bodied red wine produced from Malbec grapes in the Patagonia region of Argentina. The flagship wine of the estate, Noemia is produced from 70+ year-old Malbec vines and spends 18 months maturing in new French oak barrels. "Noemia’s 2019 Malbec has done it again; Hans Vinding-Diers hit the mark with a superbly elegant, nuanced Malbec from Mainque, Rio Negro. Fermented in open casks, with 30% whole bunches, it was aged in casks and foudres for a year before being racked into used barrels for two more months. The grapes come from a vineyard first planted in 1932 and tended to as a garden ever since. As Vinding-Diers says. “We’re working to reveal even more of the magic of this vineyard.” The nose is a pure compendium of fresh plum and sweet and sour cherry along with violets and a hint of tea. The aging process flirts with revealing itself but is only really an insinuation. Things get even better in the complex mouth. the proportion of all the different parts – acidity, tannins and alcohol – ensures good balance and fits together in a way that they continue right to the finish where the whole becomes more than the sum. A deliciously detailed wine." Vinous, 2021

Vinous
A Malbec mixed with 10% Merlot from Mainque, Río Negro, aged in 20% new barrels. Bright violet in the glass. The nose offers notes of sour cherry, plum, herbs and a novel, bloody profile. An elemental wine displaying complementary oaky hints. Rich in the mouth, it has active, gentle tannins to which the Merlot adds a little spice and texture. Juicy and medium-bodied, with acid that leaves a tingle at the back of the throat, and a long, fruity aftertaste. A classical wine.
