Nicolas-Jay Estate, a prominent producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Oregon`s Willamette Valley, emerged from a three-decade friendship between music entrepreneur Jay Boberg and Burgundy winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo of Domaine Méo-Camuzet. The Nysa Vineyard, located at an elevation ranging from 600 to 700 feet in the Dundee Hills, was planted in 1990 by Michael Mega and stands renowned as the origin of some of Oregon’s finest Pinot Noirs. Nicolas-Jay`s grapes are sourced from a prized block of own-rooted Pommard clone vines, part of the site`s original 1990 plantings. These closely spaced vines thrive in Jory volcanic soils with an underlying layer of basalt bedrock, facilitating dry farming for the vines.

Vinous
The 2021 Pinot Noir Nysa Vineyard is spicy and perfumed with notes of wild strawberries, rose petals and star anise. Silky upon entry, a wiry, sultry character builds as saline minerals and tart wild berries are excited by nervous acidity. It finishes with a cheek-puckering cranberry concentration and fine-grained tannins while tapering off long and youthfully tense.
