Nicolas Jay Bishop Creek Pinot Noir 2022 displays characteristics typical of its high-elevation vineyard source in Oregon. This vintage presents a deep ruby hue, hinting at the concentrated fruit within. On the nose, there are clear aromas of black cherries and red currants, complemented by earthy undertones of forest floor and subtle hints of spice. The palate reveals a blend of wild berries and plum, structured by noticeable tannins and a mineral layer reminiscent of wet stones. Founded by the collaboration of respected winemaker Jay Boberg and Burgundy’s Jean-Nicolas Méo, Nicolas Jay focuses on terroir-driven expressions of Pinot Noir.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Bishop Creek is a model of purity, wafting up with a beautiful display of rose petals, sweet lavender, cola and black cherries. This soothes with its round and giving nature, mixing tart wild berry fruits with savory spice and notes of sour citrus that add lovely contrast. It leaves a staining of primary concentration and well-contoured tannins, finishing with admirable length and edgy tannins that frame the experience well without slowing its momentum.Eric Guido1st August 2024
