Navatalgordo Comando G 2023 is a mountain Garnacha from Gredos wine producers Dani Gomez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García, who draw inspiration from legendary Grenache wines. This vintage is derived from Grenache grapes cultivated in the Sierra de Gredos’s elevated, granitic soils, where vines average 50-80 years in age. Employing whole-cluster fermentation, the wine undergoes an extended maceration of 40-45 days before being aged in concrete and foudre. The resulting profile reveals aromas of dark berries, subtle spice and earthy nuances. The palate reflects a balance of acidity and structure, suggesting potential for further development in bottle.

The village 2023 Navatalgordo has grapes (mostly purchased from regular suppliers) from five different parajes or lieu-dits from the stony and quartz soils from the village. It has a stony personality but a perfumed nose of violets and violet pastille, with silty tannins and good grip. It matured in oak vats to polish those village tannins. It`s very complete and opens up in the glass nicely, as it`s a little more austere than the one from Villanueva. This is the more tannic of the village reds. 9,965 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2024.
