The Napanook 2013 is a red wine from Napa Valley, crafted by Dominus Estate. This wine primarily comprises Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with variations in the blend depending on the year. The vineyard features deep, gravelly soils that enhance grape maturity and balance. The 2013 iteration presents a complex nose of blackberry, plum and subtle herbal notes, alongside hints of cedar and graphite. On the palate, it is structured and full-bodied, showcasing concentrated fruit flavours and a notably persistent finish.

Vinous
Just as magnificent from bottle as it was in barrel, the 2013 Napanook is dense, powerful and brooding, with searing intensity and extraordinary balance. Lavender, plums, violets, licorice and smoke are some of the signatures, but the 2013 exudes finesse, power and intensity. Bracing and searing, the 2013 is going to require quite a bit of patience. If anything, this is an insane level of quality for the second selection. The 2013 could turn out to be a thirty-year wine. It is every bit that magnificent, especially if given some aeration.Antonio Galloni1st October 2015

Dominus Estate
A First Growth in Napa
Along with Opus One, Dominus is one of the greatest examples of applying the Bordelais approach to winemaking to the great vineyards of the Napa Valley. Grapes are sourced from Yountville, specifically the historic Napanook vineyard, from which the winery's second wine takes its name.
The 'Grand Vin' is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - a classic Bordeaux blend. After vinification, around 30% of the wine is loaded into new oak barrels for 15 months before bottling. Initial releases of Dominus met with mixed reviews, but since the late 1990s, the winery has established itself as one of the greatest in America.
