Musigny Georges Roumier 2015 is a complex red Burgundy from one of the most revered vineyards in Côte de Nuits. The nose reveals a defined profile of red berries, complemented by subtle mineral undertones and hints of citrus. Notably, the palate exhibits a balanced structure with medium-bodied characteristics and fine tannins. This vintage reflects a meticulous approach, as the Roumier estate is renowned for its traditional winemaking techniques, passed down through generations. With only a limited production available, this wine presents a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The 2015 Musigny Grand Cru has a bouquet that will make you want to cry . It has astonishing purity, waves of pure red berry fruit tinged with minerals, hints of blood orange developing. There is astonishing focus here, even compared to all the vintages I have been lucky enough to taste from barrel since 2002. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin, a perfect symmetry, sorbet-like freshness with orange sorbet infusing the fruit that leans towards dark cherry and raspberry on the finish. It reminds me of the 2005 Musigny from barrel. It might be even better. This may represent the peak of the 2015 Burgundy vintage. just one barrel and a quarter for the world. - Neal Martin
96 Vinous
(13.1% alcohol; vinified with two-thirds whole clusters): Full medium red. Expressive, deep scents of black raspberry, mocha, licorice and minerals. Utterly silky, seamless Musigny with a bulletproof quality to its berry, spice and mineral flavors--and yet I sensed I was seeing just the tip of the iceberg. Builds inexorably on the back end, saturating the palate with dusty minerality. Only the very best wines of this finish can match this one for depth of flavor, finesse of texture and nobility of tannins.

Domaine Georges Roumier

A Icon of Fine Burgundy

One of Burgundy's most famous producers - founded in 1924 by Georges Roumier, the domaine was passed to his son Jean-Marie in 1957 and eventually on to his grandson Christophe in the early 1990s. Vines are either rented from family members or managed on a share-cropping basis and the cellar team operate a dynamic approach to winemaking, subtly altering their techniques depending on the vineyard and vintage. Some fruit is fully destemmed before fermentation while some is partially destemmed. A cool maceration takes place before fermentation, which takes place in wooden vats, and punch downs happen twice a day. Use of new oak is judicious - only around 20% for the village wines, 35% for the Premier Crus and 50% for the Grand Crus.

If Georges Roumier only produced Chambolle-Musigny, Bonnes Mares and Clos St Denis, the winery would still be considered one of the greatest in Burgundy, but their other-worldly Musigny Grand Cru elevates their status among the great wineries of France to legendary.
