Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes Sérafin 2011 is a red wine from the Côte de Nuits, crafted by Domaine Sérafin from a single vineyard situated on clay-limestone soils. The 2011 vintage experienced a cool, wet growing season, resulting in wines with balanced acidity and refined tannins. This wine underwent a natural vinification process and was aged in French oak barrels. It displays aromas of red cherry, plum and earthy notes. The palate is structured and focused, leading to a nuanced finish.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Morey Saint Denis Les Millandes 2011 has an assertive, dense blackberry, mulberry and tea leaf-scented bouquet that offers very good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is an earthy tincture that lends it masculine personality and a feisty, quite peppery finish that leaves the tongue tingling. The oak becomes more accentuated with time in bottle, although it retains admirable depth and cohesion. - Neal Martin

Bright medium red. Black- and blueberry aromas are lifted by a floral quality. Juicy, tight and youthfully imploded, showing limited early fleshiness and sweetness. Flavors of herbs and brown spices are joined by salty minerality on the slightly dry-edged finish, which features dusty, chewy tannins. In an awkward stage today.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2013
