Morey-Saint-Denis 2015 from Domaine Dujac is a red wine from the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation of Burgundy. This village bottling is a blend of several parcels, vinified with a high proportion of whole clusters—a hallmark of the Dujac style. The warm 2015 vintage provides a ripe core of strawberry fruit, which is balanced by the spicy, savoury aromatics and structural lift from the stems. It is a concentrated and floral wine that captures the transition between the elegance of Chambolle and the power of Gevrey. The 2015 vintage allowed for exceptional ripeness, which Dujac has harnessed to create a village-level wine with the density and longevity typically associated with more prestigious Premier Cru sites in the Côte de Nuits.

Good dark red. Laid-back aromas of black cherry, menthol and spices. Youthfully reticent but seamless, offering good flavor intensity but little early sweetness. Finishes with dusty but essentially supple tannins and savory, spicy soil tones. This will need at least a few years in the cellar to deliver on the sappy sweetness it displayed from barrel in the fall of 2016.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
