The 2014 Morey St Denis 1er Cru from Domaine Dujac exemplifies the precision and craftsmanship typical of this esteemed Burgundy estate, founded in 1967 by Jacques Seysses. This Pinot Noir is sourced from carefully selected Premier Cru parcels. The vintage is marked by lower yields due to variable weather, resulting in a wine that balances vibrancy with structure. Aromas of cherry and raspberry harmonise with earth and subtle spice notes. Its palate is characterised by fine tannins and a refreshing minerality, culminating in a persistent and refined finish.
Vinous
Healthy dark red. Lovely lift to the aromas of blackberry, blackberry and spicy underbrush. Densely packed, broad and sweet; spreads out horizontally on the palate but retains a juicy quality to its dark berry and spice flavors. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and very good length.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2016

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
