Château Montrose Magnum 2010 is a notable wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation, classified as a Second Growth property. This vintage benefited from ideal weather throughout the growing season, characterised by a warm, dry summer that facilitated remarkable grape ripening. The blend primarily features Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, which contributes complexity. The 2010 vintage reveals a structure built on pronounced tannins and balanced acidity, presenting concentrated flavours typical of Montrose. Established in the 18th century, Château Montrose is acclaimed for its commitment to traditional vinification methods and terroir expression.

One of the most youthful and powerful wines in this tasting is the 2010 Montrose, a year when only 52% of the estate`s production went into the grand vin. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of crème de cassis, cigar wrapper, black truffle and loamy soil, it`s full-bodied, deep and layered, with a rich core of concentrated fruit that`s framed by a muscular tannic chassis. Some 2010s are beginning to show their cards, but this Montrose will still require patience. - William Kelley

Structure and Elegance

A veritable jewel of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with a history that dates back as far as 1815, this Second Growth property spans 95 ha. The estate produces a marvellous second wine, La Dame de Montrose, as well as a third wine, now known as Tertio de Montrose.

Renowned for the ageability and polish of their wines, the vineyards of Château Montrose are planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, all farmed organically. The first wine, Château Montrose is produced as the result of rigorous selection from a predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Structured and tannic but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé.
